I am the fourth generation of weavers in my family; I was taught by my mother. For me weaving is like therapy because I focus all of my attention on the piece I am producing. I enjoy combining the colors of the threads just as nature combines colors in each season of the year. I am transmitting my culture, my traditions and my dreams to whoever buys my woven products. I have been weaving on a pedal loom for 47 years.

I am proud to be a weaver and to know all of the steps it takes to make a rug and to transmit my skills to future generations just as my parents and sisters transmitted theirs to me. It gives me great pleasure to know that there is someone waiting to buy something I have made and that there are no obstacles to keep me from doing this work that I enjoy so much. I have been weaving on a pedal loom for 17 years.

Some time ago women didn’t use pedal looms but I wanted to learn so I asked my father-in- law to teach me how to weave. I very much enjoy weaving on my loom which is about 50 years old. In the rugs I weave I try to depict my traditions and the heritage from my ancestors which is what I want share with our customers. I am proud to be a woman and to make wonderful woven goods.

I am proud to be part of a new generation of artisans and be able to carry on what my parents taught me. I dream of being able to someday export the pieces I make and to be able to travel the world as a result of this effort. I want to communicate the joy it gives me to know that I can accomplish something with the imagination and creativity that God has given me. I have been weaving on a pedal loom for 10 years.
